Striped wallpaper and chevron wallpaper
Stripes are the simplest way to change how a room feels. Vertical lines draw the eye up and make a ceiling feel taller, wavy lines add movement, and chevrons bring a zigzag rhythm that feels both classic and modern. Our striped and chevron wallpaper collection leans toward hand-painted and textured lines rather than crisp, ruler-straight stripes, and every design is printed to order in Indianapolis at your wall's exact size.
Painted and watercolor stripes
Inked Lines is a hand-painted black stripe on white, Watercolor Stripes softens the look with black and grey watercolor lines, and Get This Straight is a painted stripe in black and green. Painted stripes feel relaxed and work in bedrooms, kids' rooms and casual living spaces where a crisp stripe might feel too formal.
Wavy line wallpaper
Lines in Motion sets soft black waves on cream, and the Nashville Live designs Keep the Beat, Sing Along and Toe Tapper are wavy line patterns in navy, taupe and green. Jordan Baker is a pattern of thin, wavy gold lines on white for a little shine.
Chevron wallpaper
Rose Chevrons is a soft pink chevron on cream, Fine Grey Chevron and Paper Chevrons are textured chevrons in grey, beige and pastel blue, Sailor Chevron is blue and cream, and Chevron Waves layers light blue and teal into a wave. Nudara mixes navy, grey, white and distressed gold chevrons, Wild at Heart is a chevron of black flecks on cream, and Hippie Chevron goes multicolor. Rope and textured rows
Eleanor Zissou is a pattern of blue rope rows with a photographic look, a natural fit for a coastal room. Pair it with nautical wallpaper in an adjoining space.
How to use striped wallpaper
-
Go vertical in low rooms. Vertical stripes make a ceiling feel taller.
-
Use chevrons on one wall. A chevron is busy enough to carry an accent wall on its own.
-
Mind the corners. Stripes show any wall that isn't plumb, so start your first panel against a level line.
-
Try a hallway. Stripes run the eye down a long hall and make it feel intentional.
Where striped wallpaper works best
Striped wallpaper suits hallways, entryways, kids' rooms, nurseries and bedrooms, and chevrons make a lively accent wall in a playroom, office or dining nook. For bathrooms, we recommend prepasted smooth, which holds up best to steam and humidity. Peel and stick works well in powder rooms and in well-ventilated or lightly used guest baths.
Striped peel and stick wallpaper vs. prepasted
For the cleanest seams and a finish that looks professionally hung, we recommend prepasted smooth: activate with water, slide into place, and it still removes cleanly when you're ready for a change. Safe for renters and all homeowners.
Striped peel and stick wallpaper installs with no water at all and is a great alternative. Be sure to read our installation instructions to prep your walls correctly. In bathrooms, peel and stick works well in powder rooms and in well-ventilated or lightly used guest baths; for a bathroom with daily shower steam, we recommend prepasted smooth.
Traditional paste-the-wall and Type II commercial-grade options are available for permanent and high-traffic installs. The traditional paste can be strippable with the correct wallpaper paste. We recommend Roman paste products. Every material is vinyl- and PVC-free, GreenGuard Gold certified and printed with non-toxic, water-resistant UVgel inks.
Striped wallpaper FAQ
Do vertical stripes make a room look bigger?
Vertical stripes make a ceiling feel taller. Wide, low-contrast stripes feel calmer than narrow, high-contrast ones, which can feel busy on every wall.
What's the difference between chevron and herringbone?
A chevron is a continuous zigzag where the lines meet at a point. A herringbone is made of offset rectangles, like a woven or tiled floor. You'll find herringbone designs in our geometric wallpaper.
Is striped wallpaper removable?
Yes. Prepasted smooth and peel-and-stick both remove cleanly, and traditional paste is strippable when hung with the right wallpaper paste. Type II is made for permanent, high-traffic installs.
Is striped wallpaper washable?
Yes. Wipe with a soft cloth and plain water. Skip cleaners and solvents, which can lift the ink.
Can I see a sample first?
Yes. Samples start at $5 and show the real color, material and scale. We recommend one, because custom-printed wallpaper can't be returned.
How fast does it ship?
We print to order in Indianapolis and ship in 1-3 business days, plus FedEx transit time.
What if something arrives damaged or misprinted?
Any defect in material or print quality is replaced or credited under our warranty.
